    Hi Members and Friends,

Just a quick update this week to let you all know a bit about what is happening in your club.

This week started with on Tuesday with another Bunnings BBQ, a huge thank you to all who gave their time and support. You would be happy to hear we made almost $1,100 for the club. So a huge thank you to Maggie and her team.

Thursday was also the first Open MIC Night for the year, a good attendance with some superb talent on show. If this keeps up we could be charging money to see them by the end of the year. Well done to all who supported.

Friday night was our normal club night with a very good attendance and one very happy chef. Yes Steve the chef won the $100 cash. Well done mate.
We also had the Jazz Kings playing for us Friday night, with their style of New Orleans Jazz they were fantastic, I hope we get the chance to have them back again.

Don’t forget memberships are now due, we need all the support we can get.

See you all at the club soon

    Hi members and friends,
I thought I would make my first blog of the year one of good news.
Thursday the new furniture arrived and looks an absolute treat, come in and check it out. And also thanks to Duncan for installing the new blinds.

Steve the Chef is getting more popular every week with the meals selling out most Friday nights. You need to come early and sample the great meals on offer.

Friday night was the first of our cash draws for the year, we started at $200 and it was won by Tony Mortess -hard to think of a more deserving winner.

Friday was also our first Karaoke for the year, the room was full and talent was great, it was good to have so many visitors to join us.

Tuesday 30th Jan is our next Bunnings BBQ if you can spare us an hour or 2 please PM me, this is always a very important fund raising event for our club and we can’t do it without the help of our volunteers.

This Friday night the 2nd Feb we will be having the JAZZ Kings in to play for us, the cash draw will be back to $100 and the meat tray raffle of course.

Don’t forget that memberships are now due and thanks to the good work from Julie and Theresa you can now visit the Semaphore Port Adelaide RSL web page and renew your membership online.

See you all at the club soon

    Hi Members and Friends

Another week closer to Santa and a very busy one at the club again. The new furniture has been ordered and should be in by mid January.
The quotes have started rolling in for the new bathrooms, that’s all moving quite well.

Thursday night was a full house for Open MIC again with a lot of meals sold and some new talent we hadn’t seen before, so well done to all.

Friday night was club night as normal with a lot of meals done and a good attendance from members and friends, well done to Dianne for winning the meat tray.

Also a huge thankyou to the kids and staff at North Haven Primary School who raised a massive $647.45 for our poppy day fund raiser.

On another note New Years Eve will see the club open for dinner and light entertainment until the first fireworks display, so why not bring the kids in for dinner, catch the best views of the fireworks and retire early if you like. LiL’Diva will be playing a few tunes to keep us all entertained should be a good night.
There is a $10 cover charge but $5 will be credited off a meal should you choose to dine.

Catch you all at the club soon

    Hello Members and Friends,

Well, what a week it has been for your club!

Our special guest on Friday night was the Hon Stephen Mulligan MP and after giving us an informative insight into his background he was invited to draw the Member's Cash draw of $1,200 which was won by Andrea Woods! Congratulations to Andrea and everyone else who attended on Friday and supported the club. The cash draw will recommence early next year and everyone is reminded that you must be financial to be in the draw so please renew your 2018 membership as soon as you can so you don't miss out.

In June this year the State Government launched one of the world's largest "Fund my Neighbourhood" programs which gave South Australians the power to nominate and choose neighbourhood improvement projects to share in $40M in funding over a two year period. The program asked for public submissions of ideas worth funding, then called for members of the public to vote for their favourites. Your committee submitted a nomination for funds for the club to undertake major improvements including the bathrooms and kitchen and on Friday I was very pleased to be informed that the Semaphore Port Adelaide RSL sub branch had been awarded the maximum available funding of $150,000. On Saturday, Secretary Julie Barry and myself attended a function and were presented with a cheque for $150,000 by Premier Jay Weatherill.

I'd like to send a massive thank you to those who worked so hard to access the eligibility criteria, complete and then submit the nomination and also to those members of the community who voted for our project. The funds will enable us to undertake well needed renovations to our hall. I would like to thank other local organisations who weren't successful this year and remind them that the second round of funds will be available next year and encourage them to try again.

The award winning Semaphore Street Fair was held on Sunday and there was a huge number of visitors. We held a sausage sizzle in front of the club and it was a successful event thanks to the support of those members who helped.

I'd like to acknowledge the great job that our chef Stephen Nassaris is doing in preparing mouth-watering meals for members and guests and also give a big thank you to his regular volunteer helpers in the kitchen Maggie and Marta.

This Friday night sees Galaxy Karaoke back in the clubrooms and as it's the last karaoke night of the year we hope to get as many attend as possible, so lets finish that off with a bang.

Don't forget next week is Open Mic night on Thursday 7 December - mark that one in your diary as it's always a great night

I look forward to seeing you in the clubrooms.
